In my experience, the effect has been positive because they became more cost conscious and also investment conscious. They developed confidence and discipline over money. My husband and I are also confident to allow them to follow their passion in their pursuit of career because we know that whatever they get into they will know how to fend for themselves - no need to dictate on what course to take up. To appreciate my point, you can read my stories about money in Chapter 6.

Maybe the safeguard to the danger that you're concerned about kids being too money savvy is to make sure that you know your money values very well so you can impart these in your kids at an early age. As a family, find out what things you value most. Because really, no amount of money in the world will make you happy if what we do with it do not agree with your core values.
